Interoperability for Virtualisation

Reducing the Complexity
The data centre of the future will frequently have both Linux and Windows. Companies that are able to make them work together better will be able to reduce complexity and costs.

Microsoft and Novell would like to extend to you a complimentary invitation to attend our half-day seminar on Windows and Linux Interoperability

“The Impact of Virtualisation on Reducing Complexity”

At this summit, you and your peers will learn about the latest options for taking advantage of Windows and Linux interoperability to employ virtualisation, reduce systems overhead, and tame the complexity brought on by combining disparate environments.

Business Benefits:

Virtualisation solutions created by Microsoft and Novell provide all the standard benefits of virtualisation—server consolidation, higher uptime, increased flexibility, and lower costs. But they also provide three additional benefits:
  • Faster time-to-market. With the virtual machine adapters developed by Microsoft and Novell, companies can develop highly efficient Windows-Linux virtualisation solutions much faster than was previously possible.
  • Higher performance. The virtual machine adapters created by Microsoft and Novell enable Windows Server 2008 to perform when running as a guest operating system under SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 and vice versa.
  • Better support. Perhaps most important, Microsoft and Novell both have agreed to support customers running Microsoft and Novell virtualisation solutions. The two companies have jointly created a process for addressing customer issues in Windows Server 2008-SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 virtualisation environments.

Customer Experience:
SWISS POST Markus Bacher - Head of the IT22 Technology Infrastructure Service

“We welcome the partnership between Microsoft and Novell because they offer sustainable advantages for us and our customers in respect of interoperability and the protection of intellectual property. Thanks to the increasing standardisation of our architecture on Windows and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) we have become much more efficient and maintained optimised control of our data centres. We are now in a much better position to refine our infrastructure and reduce costs allowing us to focus on providing high-quality, innovative customer service.”
